YOICHI OHIRA
Drawings from the Anfora Glassworks
Yoichi Ohira
This book pays tribute to glass artist Yoichi Ohira (1946–2022) and the Anfora glassworks in Murano, with glassblowers Livio Serena and Andrea Zilio, and glass grinder Giacomo Barbini, who together produced hundreds of unique pieces with this extraordinary artist.
In addition to texts by Rosa Barovier Mentasti, Barry Friedman, Federico Zanini, and Francesca Giubilei, the book features important works and drawings by Ohira, along with recently recovered documents such as an archive from master Barbini showcasing various grinding techniques.
These materials highlight the creativity and dedication of an artist who successfully merged two cultures—Japanese and Venetian glassmaking—achieving a synthesis and evolution of the highest quality.
